Fat Head Farms Editorial

Written by Brad Iwen

We collaborated with Feast and Field to produce a story about Fat Head Farms, producers of some of the finest artisanal honey you’ll ever taste. We spent a picture-perfect summer day on the farm with the farmers, Kathy and Brian Suchan, learning about bees, polination, honey, and exploring the beauty of their property. We produced a gallery of still images for editorial publication, as well as a short film about the honey making process. And most importantly, we made some awesome new friends, which is certainly one of the best parts of the job.

Their farm has been in Brian’s family for generations and has a wonderful vibe. Beautiful old buildings and views of the rolling hills in every direction. The original farmhouse is now used as the main honey bottling and distribution center. Everywhere you look, there are amazing details. Kathy has an incredible eye for design and her passion for collecting all things cool is evident everywhere inside and out. Every building has a purpose and I really loved the way the buildings complimented the landscape.

And the name Fat Head Farms? How did that name originate? It’s named after a bulldog named Porkchop, of course! We had some fun playing with Porkchop and his pals, Harley and Queen. They definitely add some great energy to the atmosphere. We had some fun getting some aerial shots of them playing and they wanted more than anything to chomp that drone out of the sky!
